New Brunz Lovin'

My girlfriends made the trip up the turnpike to visit me for the weekend. It started out as a brainstorming sesh as one of our best friends is getting married and we needed to plan the bachelorette shin-dig. Despite the fact that we are easily distracted and took a minor detour to buy a few things for the festivities; we were rather successful. We grabbed some food at the local brewery (Harvest Moon) then went to a tiny pub for some cheap drinks. Once we had a buzz we went to check out the scene at V-Lounge. The dark atmosphere was really nice and the place was pretty packed after 11. And the DJ was playing some old-skool. We definitely shed a few lbs on the dance floor and shleped home only to eat some fried food and pass out in typical slumber party fashion. It was so good to see them and I am looking forward to our next outing in Washington, DC.

PS. We totally saw Dairius Rucker (or so we THOUGHT) and a woman that looked exactly like Jon-Bon Jovi. What a hilaaaaaaarious misunderstanding. Yikes.

Hot mess of the week slash month

That honor goes to Mr. Tiger Woods. I am so over hearing about this scandal. Dude, you don't get to have all the fame and glory when you win the Masters but when you decide to be a cheating d-bag you expect people to give you privacy. Newsflash: your a celeb. My advice to him is:
i. look at your wife, she is a Swedish super model
ii. stop apologizing to people that are not your wife
iii. keep it in your pants. always.

Last night I got to catch a glimpse of one of my friends whom I hadn't seen in three years. We met each other on a train in Denmark and we have remained in touch every since. It was so refreshing to see him and pick up right where we left off. Even though I only got to visit with him for an hour it was really nice to catch up and since I associate him with my time abroad, I was immediately struck with the desire to go back. I love the Danes and everything about their lifestyle. I could compile a list of reasons why but I will leave that for another post. Above is a gorgeous picture of Nyhavn, this really colorful strip of unique buildings along the docks. I would give anything to be there right now. Any takers?!

Big ups to a fellow Dip

I recently read this article about a guy that graduated a few years ahead of me at Franklin & Marshall. He is doing big things, including starting a really trendy bar scene in Phila, PA. Naturally I am a huge fan of Philly as well as having a lot of pride for my fellow "Diplomat". Kudos.

If you have nothing better to do, check out the article.

Offensive Olympians

So apparently at this years Olympics the duo that is representing the Russian Federation decided to "tone down" their offensive dance and portrayal of Aboriginals, to something more tasteful. They created quite a stir of controversy at the 2010 European Championships and promised to adjust their routine before coming to the Winter Games. Domnina & Shabalin are pictured below in their faux foliage and darkened skin tones pre-Vancouver. Question: Who is their costume designer? And why did they think this was okay?

My hallway smells like butt

This complaint is definitely going to be for the entire week. As I have mentioned I live in an apartment building with about 10-12 apartments on each floor. It is extremely clean and well-kept, HOWEVER this week my hall reakssssssssss. I have taken a poll with E and we think it smells like a variation of these:

sulfur & death
farts in a shoebox
Sweaty feet
John's ass
b.o on the subway

how do we combat this? We tried candles, febreeze, etc but it is seeping underneath our door.

Happy Friday....NOT

Pretty sure when you have to work on Saturday, Friday is certainly not as sweet as everyone else makes it out to be. Since I am bitter about having to work tomorrow, I will be having a low-key evening with:

I have a confession....

Im the worst grocery shopper in the history of food. I can't seem to figure out how to compile a list and keep food stocked in my fridge. I tend to just go to the store, grab what I am craving and then leave. Hence, I go to Stop & Shop way too often. I just came back from work and looked into my pathetic fridg and this was what I saw:

- 3 jars of salsa
- 4 eggs
- 7 Up (who drinks that anyway?)
- all the condiments you could imagine
- Wonton Soup from my Chinese neighbor
- some bacon
- tuna fish

that is foul. I need a personal shopper.

hump day jam[z]

I can't get his voice out of my head. I want him to serenade me, that's my humpday wish.

I can't really deal with this

At work we often try to keep our sanity by raising interesting topics and/or bringing in items of discussion. It generally revolves around food. In the past we have had pomello's, honey bell oranges... and today, well today was amazing. SPOTTED DICK. Its apparently this sweet dessert with raisins. Leave it up to the crazy Brits to market something so absurd. Tomorrow we get to try it-- I am stoked.

Im not bitter, just blunt

I am sure it's not intended to, but V-Day can definitely make the single people of the world feel bad/sad/depressed/angry etc. However, that is not necessary. I don't have a boyfriend but that doesn't mean I don't have a shit load of other people that love me. So suck it, cupid. I have lots of love in my life.

This quote reassures me that my single-dom is just fine:

“And maybe a happy ending doesn’t include a guy, maybe it’s you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is just moving on.”

Carpool Lane Anyone?

Due to the storm we had, and the fact that my car is worthless in the snow, me and my friend, E, are carpooling to work. Despite the fact that we had to dig out and in to our parking spot, it was kinda enjoyable. Also, knowing that someone else was depending on me made it a lot easier to be on time to the ole j.o.b. This made me think back to when I was in grade school and some kid's mom (whoever had the biggest car) would pick up everyone in the neighborhood and pile us in. We would sit on laps and double-buckle. Completely illegal. How i miss those days. I decided that this is something that would make my day a lot less stressful; if someone else drove me to work, daily. Here is a list of things that would also make it easier for me to cope...

a. for my job to start @ 11 a.m
b. permission to wear sweatpants everyday
c. a cool Coca-Cola sitting on my desk when I arrived
d. some eye-candy to drool over
e. throwing my beeper into a dark abyss and never having to answer it again

I will be sure to broach this topic at the next staff meeting : )

Snowed In....syke

The grocery store is packed with panicky people. Everyone has bought all the salt and shovels in a 20 mile radius. Clearly there is a blizzard coming. My boss suggested that if we don't foresee ourselves making it into work in the a.m., we should just spend the night. ummmmmmm, i think i will pass. But thanks for the awesome offer. Yiiikkkers. Talk about a hot mess of a situation!!!! Call me crazy, but I will choose my bed. Everytime! Even with a blizzard brewing.

C.O.D

Allow me to set the scene: I live on the 8th floor of my building. We have two elevators. One of them is broken. As I was approaching the working elevator I noticed it was packed with people, yet if they just squeezed a little bit I would of been able to get on. As the door is sliding closed in my face, someone inside the elevator says "oh i bet you can fit". Ummmmmm, im pretty sure its too late. Rude slash annoying. And no, i didn't take the stairs.

i bet these guys would of made room

funny = sexy

I don't think I have dated enough to accurately describe what "type" of guy I am into. But i do know that a funny guy is a must. Funny = sexy. And these are just a few guys that make me laugh and happen to be ridiculously attractive.

Dirty: Elton John embraces Lady Gaga's filthy style

Unreal. I give Elton John so much credit. He is already famous (and a knight), pretty sure the last thing he needed to do was get "dirty" and romp around on stage with Gaga at the Grammy's. But he did it anyway. I enjoyed the piano duet but at this rate what is Lady G going to be doing when she is 63?!? [ps. i know I am totally behind on the grammy update, buttttt get over it : ) ]
